The John Main Seminar
Organized by the WCCM, the John Main Seminar has been an annual event since 1984. It was established to honour John Main’s memory and his legacy with the goal to broaden and deepen the understanding and value of Contemplative meditation in all the fields of the society.
Since 1984, more than 30 seminars have been held all around the world with prestigious speakers as His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Cardinal Walter Kaspar, former President of Ireland Mary McAleese, composer and singer Margaret Rizza, Fr. Robert Kennedy, Professor David Tacey, Jean Vanier and many others.
The World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM) was founded 25 years ago. Its purpose is to transmit and nurture the practice of meditation as taught by Father John Main, in fidelity to the Christian tradition and to serve the unity of all.
The community is present in more than 120 countries (Europe, Canada, United States, Australia, Asia, and South America) and has more than 2,500 meditation groups around the world.
With the MEDITATIO Foundation, the WCCM has started to respond to the spiritual needs of the secular world around it to share the fruits of meditation beyond the mere religious perimeter.
Thus, contemplative meditation is also taught in schools, universities, businesses, hospitals, prisons in several countries.
On the campus of Georgetown University (USA), the WCCM has hosted the John Main Center for Meditation and Interreligious Dialogue for over ten years.
In business and finance, a "Meditation and Leadership" unit has been introduced in several Business Schools in Singapore and Washington.
In the medical community, she participates in Ireland with the Royal College of Medicine in training and seminars on health and meditation.
